A lot of people ask me about why I charge a Consultation Fee of $300. Employment Law is different from other areas of the law. For example, with a traffic accident case, a lawsuit can be filed shortly after the accident. So a number of attorneys provide free consultations to individuals because a decision on filing a lawsuit can be made shortly after.

For people with Employment Law issues, the situation is a lot more complicated. Employment law requires employees and former employees to follow a “process” or protocol in order to address their issues. The purpose of meeting with me is to find out where you are in that required process and what options you may have.

The consultation fee is to make sure that only people who are serious about pursuing a path that may result in a lawsuit meet with me. The fee is also based on my years of training and experience to help guide you to the next steps. You are getting the benefit of my real world experience in employment law and other areas of the law. That is why a Consultation Fee is required.

Real estate disputes may stem from property line concerns

On Behalf of | Nov 15, 2022 | Real Estate Law |

While there may be many individuals who have healthy relationships with their neighbors, this might not be the case in every situation. There are various scenarios in which relations between similar parties might experience some form of strain, especially in the presence of disputes over property lines. Real estate disputes regarding similar matters can be hotly contested matters and individuals in Hawaii who face such concerns might benefit from seeking guidance on their rights and options.

The types

One of the most common sources of property line disputes may involve the presence of encroachment. An encroachment may refer to a situation in which something that rests on one party’s property either lies partially on or across the property line or extends over this line. This could be anything from a tree to a building, or even a driveway of a home that crosses partially onto a neighbor’s land.

Disputes that stem from similar matters can prove a source of contention among neighbors at times. However, this isn’t the only concern involved, as topics such as trespassing and adverse possession may also play a role in property line conflict. Similar issues may prompt a need to perform a title search and to survey a property. While sometimes speaking with a neighbor about the issues may help resolve the matter, this might not always prove fruitful.

An acceptable resolution

Similar types of real estate disputes can prove complex in nature, and it might not always be easy to know how to handle the matter at hand. Individuals in Hawaii who encounter such conflict might find it helpful to speak with an attorney early on for advice in evaluating the situation and exploring all the available options. An attorney can work toward protecting a client’s legal rights and assist in preparing to seek the most favorable resolution achievable via the necessary paths.
